2018 ROUND UP!
As 2018 draws to a close it’s time we look back on our work throughout the year. Though we have been working towards improving the lives of the relocated Tiger Temple tigers since 2016, we only became registered as a charity in January of this year. Once registered, our ability to provide direct aid, perform research and provide public education has greatly increased. At this time we are still only a very small team so making big changes is somewhat out of reach for us. Never

FOLLOW THE TIGERS: MORE IN THE WORKS!
On 7th November, we once again visited the Temple tigers residing at the Department of National Parks (DNP) facilities. On this trip we brought a six-monthly supply of carnivore supplement, which is added to the tiger's food. In addition, for one of the facilities we supplemented their food by purchasing 100kg of chicken and pork from Betagro. Sadly, a few more tigers have passed on but those that remain appear to have fully adjusted to their new life. However, work still nee

How can YOU save a tiger this month?
The constant struggle that tigers are under to survive in the wild is being put into the spotlight more than ever with September being designated as ‘National Save a Tiger Month’ in America. With less than 4,000 tigers reportedly left in the wild, these figures are a major cause for concern. There are world wide conservation efforts being put forward by a number of large organisations such as WWF to highlight the major threats to wild tigers and being able to nullify them bef

Walk For Tigers
Yesterday marked the first Walk For Tigers fundraising event, and with its great success, we hope to make this an annual activity. Starting in Lion Yard in the centre of Cambridge, our walkers left at around 9.30am, taking the main route out of town straight through to Shepreth Wildlife Park. Along the route we gathered more walkers until our 'streak of tigers' was ten people strong. All dressed as tigers, face painting dripping off thanks to the unusual high temperatures for

TOURISM & ANIMAL WELFARE SYMPOSIUM
Today, two members of For Tigers headed out to the Tourism and Animal Welfare symposium held at South Bank University. There were many interesting talks from Donald Broom, Daniel Turner, Claire Jenkinson, Stuart Patterson,Tom Moorhouse, Glen Cousquer and Jan Schmidt-Burbach. After the talks we were able to have some constructive chats with Jan Schmidt-Burbach and Tom Moorhouse on the welfare of captive tigers in tourism and the next steps to take in this area. #fortigers #tig

TWO YEARS ON: WHERE ARE THE TIGER TEMPLE TIGERS NOW?
It’s been two years since the Tiger Temple in Kanchanaburi, Thailand was closed and the tigers relocated to government facilities. It looked to be a new beginning for captive tigers in Thailand with government officials announcing that they would be cracking down on facilities across the country. However, two years on and there are more facilities offering tiger selfie and interaction opportunities, not less. In terms of the tigers from Tiger Temple however, sadly things did

FOLLOW THE TIGERS: GREENER ENCLOSURES
More photos of some of the lucky tigers enjoying their outside areas. With the recent rains, the grass is finally starting to grow in, making these enclosures a little more lush than they had been. This is Diamond Jr out in the recently finished enclosure funded by Wildheart Foundation. The bamboo tree behind the platform is great for the tigers as they can eat the leaves much in the same way that they sometimes eat grass. In the wild, tigers would eat the stomach contents of

FOLLOW THE TIGERS: ENCLOSURE NO.5 BECOMES TWO!
Follow the tigers: The latest updates for Enclosure No. 5 show the platforms coming up and the ponds almost done. However, unlike the previous enclosures, this one has now been split into two making two smaller outside areas. The way these enclosures have been built, is that the current cages for the tigers bookend the enclosure, allowing one tiger access at a time – a system in place for the first enclosures that were built. This does mean that the tigers have to take turns

11 environmental tips to consider before lights out for Earth Hour
Earth Hour was launched 11 years ago today in Sydney Australia as a ‘lights out’ event with the aim of inspiring people around the globe to act on the environmental crisis our world now faces. Now the largest environmental movement, Earth Hour relies on members of the public to power this movement with the support of WWF and other charitable organisations to highlight the extreme climate change, the accelerating loss of biodiversity and the immediate need to protect our natur

FOLLOW THE TIGERS: FOUNDATIONS RISING
Follow the Tigers: Almost daily updates at the moment! The foundations for Enclosure No. 5 are going up at a rate of knots, it is all very exciting. Let's hope progress doesn't slow down just yet :) For those of you who are just coming to this page, this is the fifth enclosure being built for the rescued Tiger Temple tigers. At this time, they are in small cages that have no natural enrichment inside along with limited space. These larger enclosures offer the tigers a more na

FOLLOW THE TIGERS: FOUNDATIONS ARE LAID
Follow the Tigers: Enclosure No. 5 - The foundations are being laid! Work is underway and the next enclosure will soon take shape. THE MALI-SALIKA TIGERS ARE ON THE MOVE
Over the past two years the Mali-Salika Zoo in Nakhon Nayok outside Bangkok has been attempting to close its doors. A private holding with 108 tigers residing inside, it was imperative that these tigers found homes before closure could occur. The past months have seen the Department of National Parks (DNP) searching to find homes for all these tigers as they are unable to take on all of them, themselves. This search has led them far and wide across the country as they attempt

FOLLOW THE TIGERS: MOVING FORWARD WITH UPGRADES
Once again we were able to visit the government facilities, though unfortunately not really able to see the tigers themselves bar a few in the areas that we were looking to do upgrades in. With our partnership with WildHeart Foundation well and truly underway, we donated carnivore supplement to both facilities and were able to take one of the WildHeart members along with us. We then discussed in depth the progress that we wished to make for both facilities which included a ne

CIRQUE DE DENIAL - WHY ARE TRAVELLING CIRCUSES STILL HAPPENING?
Travelling circuses should be a thing of the past but sadly in most countries they are not. Recently a friend’s mother, travelling in the South of France, was enjoying her relaxing camping holiday when upon coming out of her accommodation she was faced with an overnight travelling circus. Booking her trip with a UK based travel company, she assumed that all forms of animal cruelty and abuse would not be promoted. To her shock this circus comes regularly to this campground in

TEMPLE TIGERS UPDATE: SURGERIES
As we mentioned yesterday, there were a few of the Temple tigers undergoing an operation for their respiratory problems. Today we learnt that it was three of our tigers (still unidentified) and that the vets would be heading to the second facility today to perform more surgeries. Hopefully everything goes well and that the tigers are all on a quick and successful road to recovery. #fortigers #DNP #savethetigers #captivetigers #animalwelfare #tigertemple #thailand

TEMPLE TIGERS UPDATE: CHICKEN RUN PART 2
Temple tiger update: Another chicken run to the government facility today, this one funded by us. As before this was not a visit to see the tigers but rather just the food donation and as such we did not see any of them. Whilst at the facility we saw that the vet team was present but were unable to speak to them directly. We learnt that a few of the tigers previously suffering from the respiratory problems we have mentioned before, were undergoing operations within the govern

Tiger Temple tigers: RIP Sangtawan & Farkram Jr
GRAPHIC IMAGES: This is a video from the Department of National Parks (DNP) and sadly, the video does show footage of three of the Tiger Temple tigers that have now died. The first image is of Jomnapah (already known to have passed on March 4th 2017), the second is of Sangtawan, the third of Farkram Jr. If you would like to give these images a miss, then skip the video between 4.10 – 4.23. The last two tiger’s deaths were previously unknown to us. Rest in Peace Sangtawan and

Temple Tiger Update
Another visit was permitted today, though due to health issues some areas were off limits so we were unable to visit all the tigers. The new enclosures are currently having their ponds upgraded which is great as they are now bigger but a bit of a downer as the tigers can't go out in them for the time being. As you know, some of the tigers have already died, more are continuing to do so and still some of the tigers are suffering from various medical issues which are currently

The first tigers are out!!
Finally it's here! The update we've all been waiting for!! Today was the test run for the enclosures that you've helped to build. Saiduan was the lucky tiger chosen and while it took her a little time to come out, when she did she explored everywhere. Up on the platform, a dip in the pond, some tree scratching, she did it all. Thank you everyone who has helped make this possible. Over the next few day the other tigers will be venturing forth as well so we will continue to kee
